Goals

• Support the educational and training endeavors of psychoanalysts from different perspectives, and encourage critical dialogue among representatives of those perspectives;
• Promote research in the analytic domain;
• Articulate the theory, practice, and applications of psychoanalysis;
• Help overcome popular distortions, misconceptions, and anti-psychoanalytic bias;
• Collaborate with other psychoanalytic organizations to help understand new developments which may impact the psychoanalytic community (e.g., managed care) and seek ways to deal with those developments as they arise;
• Explore applications of psychoanalytic theory and technique to underserved or neglected patient populations, so as to augment the relevance of psychoanalysis to the community at large.
